The Grove School Gardening Club were delighted to win first prize for their garden trough at the RHS Malvern Spring Gardening Show. The competition was sponsored by the Alpine Garden Society as part of an outreach project for schools and Ross Barbour of the society had previously visited the school to demonstrate how to construct and plant the trough and also provided all materials and alpine plants.
The children had great fun designing the layout and their knowledge and understanding of the geography, habitats and adaptation of alpine plants was enriched.
A group of children were able to visit the show at the Three Counties Showground, where they were thrilled to discover that their entry had been awarded first prize for the most innovative design. Nathan was then invited to take part in a demonstration to members of the public and during it, HRH Princess Anne suddenly appeared for a tour of the exhibits, making the day truly exciting and memorable for everyone.
